The art of Frida Kahlo

Frida Kahlo is a feminist and Mexican painter of the twentieth century. Subsequently, she decides to get closer to the painting to be able to overcome her suffering, her trauma.

Moreover, she chooses this decision to be able to work and thus earn her living independently. This decision shows women that they are not obliged to follow the traditional role of women.

Notably there is a quote from her that is quite famous «I do not want to follow the same path as all other Mexican women, submissive, silent. No, I want to travel, I want to study, I want freedom and pleasure. All pleasure.» .

Frida is an important feminist because she often addresses taboo topics in her works, particularly sensitive themes that are part of the daily life of women such as the theme of the miscarriage with her painting The Flying Bed. Indeed, the subjects she highlights in her works are subjects that are still difficult to address today.
